Minister of Music and Outreach

Job Description:

The person filling this ministry position at Kelleytown Baptist Church will lead rehearsals with praise team (and choir) for Sunday morning worship services and Wednesday evening REFUEL. The candidate filling the position will embrace, practice, and communicate the theological beliefs and practices that align with Kelleytown Baptist Church and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000. The candidate (and family) will become an active member (s) of Kelleytown Baptist Church.
The person filling this ministry position at KBC will also be instrumental in the ongoing development and fulfillment of the goal to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Qualifications:
  • Christ follower in testimony and practice.
  • Experience leading worship in a local church setting.
  • Experience singing in a praise team.
  • Experience playing guitar preferred.
  • Experience working with a team/band.
  • Understanding of the role of leading worship in preparing the congregation to hear the preaching of the Scripture.
  • Understanding of music preparation with a pursuit of excellence in presentation of the prepared worship music. Ability to recruit and provide training for praise team, band, and choir.
  • Must have a growing understanding of audio/visual equipment, and the ability to provide ongoing training for volunteer workers with audio/visual team, and work with the leadership of this ministry to provide an excellent atmosphere of worship for KBC.
  • Have some experience and expertise in the area of outreach locally and globally.
  • Must have a growing understanding of how worship and outreach work together for the advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Willingness to assist the Senior Pastor in developing and casting a vision for KBC to impact the nations from our local ministry context.
  • Work with the Senior Pastor in preparing the order of service each week.
  • Become an active member in attendance and stewardship at KBC.
  • Take on any additional ministry assignments assigned by the Senior Pastor

Responsibilities: (Under the guidance of the Senior Pastor)
  • Plan, organize, and lead or assist volunteer leaders in all aspects of music for the church. This includes praise team and band, and music programing for adults, youth, and children.
  • Plan, organize, and lead in all areas of outreach working with the Mission Team to accomplish the overall vision and mission of the church locally and globally.

Additionally:
  • Be in regular attendance at Church worship services and participate with other teams/committees in the Church to promote and achieve church spiritual growth.
  • Be involved with ministry volunteers, encourage members to engage, recruit and train volunteers to participate in the outreach and music ministries of KBC.
  • Make arrangements for coverage of responsibilities during absences.
  • Inform the congregation through media network such as the newsletters, website, e-mail, social media platforms, etc. assisted at times by the Church Ministry Assistant and Director of Media (with the approval of the Senior Pastor).
  • Lead in accordance with God’s Word and The Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
  • Be guided by the Church Constitution and By-laws, and Personnel Policy.
  • Maintain an active and personal Bible study, devotional and prayer life.
