The Manger Project
The Manger Project is an event where families come together to work on building wooden mangers together. Once the mangers are built, they go under the Christmas tree as a reminder of the true meaning of Christmas.
Leading up to Christmas Day, family members gather for a time of reflection, prayer and to add a little bit of straw to the manger (anticipation of Jesus).
On Christmas day, they place a doll or item that represents baby Jesus into the manger and celebrate God's marvelous gift.
After Christmas, they fill the manger with baby items for a crisis pregnancy center or food items for a food bank or homeless shelter or socks for inmates. Thus a manger becomes a gift basket, and a reminder that the heartbeat of Christmas is emptying ourselves for others. Along with the manger, a devotional guide with stickers and activities is provided to help participants enjoy looking forward to true celebration of Christmas- Christ's birth.
Registration is required by Nov 29th. The cost is $10 per manger kit which includes advent book, hot cocoa and cookies, and craft. Social distancing guidelines in place. To go kits are available.
